I’m a city girl with a country heart … so when I met Kimberly and Aren and they told me all about their country wedding I was SO excited!! I’m not talking a wedding in the city with some country flair … I’m talking an authentic cowboy boots, horse in the front yard, reception in a barn, chicken photobomb COUNTRY wedding … I LOVED it!!! We started at Kim’s parents’ house where the girls were getting ready. I absolutely loved all of Kim’s style choices!
The adorable flower girls wore sweet white lace dresses with flower headpieces and braided belts … and of course the cutest little cowboy boots I’ve ever seen!!
Aren met us at the house for the first look … I just can’t get enough of these this year!! For a sweet shy couple this was the perfect way to see each other for the first time … by themselves in the comfort of their own backyard with no distractions ….
And I will also mention that these images show the importance of having 2 photographers for your wedding. I always work with a 2nd shooter and this is why … my awesome 2nd shooter Shawn got the images on the left (above and below), and I got the images on the right (above and below) … you need two perspectives to tell the whole story. : )
Oh … remember when I said there were no distractions … well that was a lie. You know you’ve got yourself an authentic country wedding when a chicken, yes a real live chicken, photobombs your first look. LOL!
And if the chicken was enough to get my little photographer heart leaping with joy, Kimberly owns this gorgeous miniature horse … isn’t she just beautiful!! I wanted to put her in my back seat and take her home with me!!
After the first look the whole bridal party made their way to the venue site which had barns and cornfields and lots of other country loveliness!
Now that’s one good lookin’ bridal party!! I love that Kimberly choose to have all of the girls wear different dresses. Cream and navy with hints of coral … what awesome wedding colours!
This next one just might be my favourite. This broken pile of tree stumps was just begging to be a platform for this stunning couple!
Kim’s attention to detail was perfection. Burlap and lace filled the barn in every corner. And the homemade jam as favours was just perfect!
After pictures we went to the church for the ceremony … and Kim had a surprise up her sleeve that nobody knew about ….
In one of the most romantic processionals I’ve ever seen (and that’s saying something) Kim sang to her groom from the end of the aisle. I don’t know how she worked up the confidence to do it, cuz I sure wouldn’t be able to … but she nailed it!! Her dad standing beside her didn’t even know it was going to happen …
Kim and Aren didn’t have me join them at the reception, but judging by the romantic space and the good company I’m sure they had a fantastic time!
Aren & Kim,
I couldn’t be happier for you both! Enjoy this new chapter of your lives!!
xoxo, Melissa
