Well … we are officially ready for our little bean to arrive, and we can’t wait to meet her!! I thought it might be nice to give you all a little tour of the completed nursery … it took many weeks to get it to this point, but I’m very happy with how it turned out!! Thank you Pinterest for all of your awesome ideas and inspiration!!
Custom booties made by Grandma to match her room, and a special jewelry box from Great Grandpa complete with family heirlooms … this little girl is loved so much already! And of course, what girl’s wardrobe is complete without a pair of Toms?
Canvases from the dollar store wrapped in coordinating fabrics with wooden letters from Michaels nailed on … thanks Pinterest!
Beautiful black sleigh crib from Sears … a generous gift from the Grandmas.
Her stuffed animal collection is underway already … complete with a Sleep Sheep (I’ve heard awesome things about those sheep). The mobile came with her bedding set, though I did “soup” it up quite a bit. All of the hearts and jewels were added by hand …
Aylah means “oak tree” … so we thought it would be fitting to include an oak tree in her decor. The decal was purchased from Etsy, and the fabric leaves that match the rest of the room were hand cut by Grandma … thanks so much for all of your help making my vision a reality Mom!!
I think she may actually have more clothes and shoes than me at this point … and that’s saying something, lol. The size organizers also came from Etsy … brilliant idea!!
Wooden door hangers from the dollar store painted with chalkboard paint and hung with ribbon. Her toys can be organized, and the labels can change as she grows.
This is another pinterest gem that my hubby made into a reality. Those bookshelves are vinyl house gutters … yes, you heard me, gutters. We bought one large gutter and 6 end caps, cut it to the right lengths, drilled mounting holes, and attached them to the wall. This was a perfect book solution for us since the room is quite small and I didn’t want to loose any floor space with a traditional book shelf.
And her book collection is filled with all of the awesome classics that I grew up with … Dr. Suess, Robert Munsch … can’t wait for story time!!

This has to be one of the most beautiful and well organized nursery’s I have EVER seen! I pinned a ton of those pictures to my own pinterest! Thank you so much for the beautiful ideas! Congratulations on your bundle of joy!!!
Thanks so much Kelsey!!
Really nice Melissa, I just travelled over here to see if you had the baby yet! 🙂 That nursery is beautiful!!!
Melissa,
Wonderful room I love so many of the ideas! The Scrabble, tree, colours, bookshelf…and her closet!!! Amazing you both did a wonderful job!
Where did you get the shelving and the baskets in her closet? I have been looking for Ava and haven’t found anything that fits yet:( And the shoe holders, great idea…where do I get those?
I love your book collation…Noah loves goodnight moon!
You will make a great mom…can hardly wait to see baby Aylah!
Congrats again,
Rachel
Aww, thanks so much Rachel!! 🙂
The shelving system in her closet came from Home Depot … it’s made by Rubbermaid and you just get the individual pieces that you need to make the configuration that you want … it was pretty easy. 🙂 The black baskets all came from Ikea … they come in sets and are really cheap … love them!! I have some in the top drawer of her dresser to which separate her socks and tights and bibs and whatnot … they’re great! The shoe holders are from Ikea as well … they are in the curtain section and are meant to hang curtains onto loops that then hang on the rod … I just threw out the hoops and used the clips by themselves. 🙂
I grew up reading Goodnight Moon, so it was a must for Aylah’s collection!!
Thanks for checkin’ in … it means a lot!!
xoxo

OMG!!! I love it!! I want this room for myself….Do you think I could convince Ivan? P.S. I feel like I need to be a lot more organized after seeing Aylah’s room! 😉 And I might have to steal your idea of using gutters for book shelves….that’s brilliant! Hunter’s room is way too small for us to have book shelves as well.
Thanks Erin!! 🙂 The gutter bookshelves are pretty cool … I’m so glad I saw them on Pinterest!!
Love the room! Our little one loves the sleep sheep, not sure how we would get her to sleep without it.
Enjoy your little one.
Thanks so much Rebecca!! Yes, I have heard wonderful things about the Sleep Sheep … I got it as a shower gift. 🙂
I totally thought I was organized, YOU ARE AWESOME!
I just wanted to thank you for the amazing wall book shelf idea.
I am sending my husband as we speak to the hardware store as I have been looking for a cool idea for 5.5 months to finish my daughters nursery.
Enjoy your little one
🙂 Thanks Daniela!
Hey Melissa! How did you get the letters to stick to the fabric canvases?!
Hey Kelsey,
I used really small nails (I think they’re called tack nails). The letters were solid wood, and fairly heavy so nailing them was the only thing that worked. My first attempt was with a hot glue gun which failed miserably, lol.
Thanks Meliissa!!!
