I have shot a LOT of weddings … and of course there will always be those ones that stand out for one reason or another, and this one for sure is one for the hall of fame!! Michelle and Aaron are two of THE sweetest people I have ever met. I enjoyed every minute of their wedding day despite the frigidly cold temperatures outside and the intense back pain I was dealing with all day (hopefully no one noticed, lol).
This was my first New Years Eve wedding, and it was an absolute blast … but I honestly don’t think it had anything to do with the hype of New Years. Aaron and Michelle’s family and friends are the warmest and most welcoming crowd and the party was hopping from the second it started. I could not believe that after shooting for a solid 13 hours I actually still wanted to stay and dance and hang out after the stroke of 12 … that almost never happens!! I just love you guys!!!!
Anywho … enough of my rambling.
I asked Michelle some questions that would help tell the story of her day in her own words, so here we go …
Michelle talks about her dress …
“My dress was exactly what I wanted. Being a winter wedding I wanted to find a dress with cap sleeves. I went to The Modern Bride in Guelph and found the dress after a few minutes of being there. It had pearls and beads all over it which had a Great Gatsby/ Old Hollywood look. I thought this would be the perfect fit for a New Year’s Eve wedding.”

The ceremony was held at the Ancaster Mill in the new and gorgeous indoor chapel.
Michelle describes the moment she saw Aaron at the end of the aisle …
“There are so many nerves involved with walking down the isle and seeing your future spouse. I just reminded myself to breathe and take it all in. It was a wonderful feeling seeing someone who is so excited to commit to spending the rest of your lives together.”
Michelle talks about her awesome bridal party …
“We chose people to be in our bridal party that have loved and supported us through out our relationship. They were so excited to celebrate our day with us and we know they will be the people that we will lean on during the next milestones in our relationship.”
We went to Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington for formal photos.
The reception was held at the Waterfront Centre … this is one of my absolute favourite venues to work at. The staff here has become like family to me … awesome people!!
Michelle talks about the first dance …
“Our first dance song was Maybe I’m Amazed by Paul McCartney. We are big Beatles fans and the song suited us perfectly.”
Michelle describes one of her favourite moments of the whole day …
“That’s a hard one… It was such a perfect day with so many memories. For me, being a New Years Eve wedding, the best moment was at 11:59pm. I looked around the room and saw so many people we love with party gear ready to ring in the new year together. When I looked up Melissa Miller was on a ladder with her camera ready to capture the moment! We had no idea she would go that above and beyond to make sure she captured the perfect moment for us.”
To say working with you guys was a pleasure would be a HUGE understatement!!
I wish you the absolute best for your future together … and PLEASE don’t be strangers!! I want to photograph all of the beautiful Bailey babies, lol!
Safe travels for your honeymoon in California!!
xoxo,
Melissa
