From the moment I met Alex and Melissa I knew they were my kind of people! Last Saturday was a wedding day I will definitely remember forever … these two have SO much love for each other and they bring joy and laughter wherever they go … I think I might have a little crush on them, lol.
We started the day at the Carmen’s Hotel where the girls were getting ready. I shoot at this hotel often for prep pictures and it’s got great light and modern decor … makes my job a whole lot easier. : )
Funny story though … as we walk into the hotel room, I see Alex … the groom. I’m very confused since this is the girls room, and the guys aren’t even supposed to be at the hotel at all. I assume the bride and groom don’t want to see each other before the ceremony so I take a quick scan around the room, and sure enough Melissa is no where to be seen. It then becomes clear that Alex is just dropping off the flowers … so I ask if Melissa is hiding somewhere. Sure enough a bare foot sneaks out from under the covers on the lumpy bed and waves at me … LOL! Now that was a first for me …
After getting a bunch of detail shots we went over to the house where the guys were getting ready.
And I of course had the pleasure of meeting Alex and Melissa’s first born … their boston terrier Daisy. We bonded … we’re tight now. ; )
We then headed back to the hotel for some finishing touches and an emotional “first look” with Dad …
The ceremony took place at the hotel as well … out on the terrace. The breeze was a bit chilly, but all in all for April 30th we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day!!
In lieu of a limo Alex and Melissa opted for a New York checker cab … how AWESOME and original is that!!
We went down to Gage Park for some formal photos … and I use the term “formal” very loosely because there isn’t a formal bone in these guys’ bodies. All fun all the time … and that’s how I like it!!
And then … we rounded the bend at the rose garden and discovered that the Gage Park cherry blossoms had bloomed a couple of weeks early this year. My second shooter and I squealed with excitement. I couldn’t be more happy about this lucky accident … you guys totally deserve it!!
After photos we went back to the hotel for the reception … and boy what a party it was! Also, one of the best wedding meals I’ve ever had!!
I just love you guys so much!! Congratulations!!!!
xoxo,
Melissa
